Save the Day: You’re Invited to a Death Café!

Pulse Center for Patient Safety Education & Advocacy cordially invites you to a Death Café at 7:00pm on Thursday March 26, 2026 at the Viana Hotel and Spa in Westbury, NY.

What’s a Death Café? No, it’s not something out of a Tarantino movie. A Death Cafe is a group-directed discussion about death held in a respectful, safe environment with no agenda or objectives.

It’s not grief counseling, therapy, or a support group—rather, it’s a space where people can gather to discuss death, dying, and living fully in a surprisingly pleasant and meaningful way. Small groups of participants are seated together with a facilitator who guides the conversation using a “menu” of questions such as:

·      What is a good death?

·      What do you want to be remembered for?

·      What kind of funeral or memorial service do you want?

This Death Café, to be conducted by the Reverend Linda Anderson, is being held as an adjunct to Pulse CPSEA’s annual Symposium and Family-Centered Patient Advocacy Training.

Following the day’s symposium sessions, Cafe attendees will gather for dinner at 5:30pm, followed by the Cafe discussion until 8:30pm.

Symposium attendees may attend the dinner and Cafe for an additional fee of $65, but you can also take part without attending the Symposium (price $85).
